Personalized Star Map of Bratislava

Bratislava Castle is a white fortress with four corner towers that overlooks the Danube from a hill at the city's heart. Its origins date to the 10th century, but its current form — a Renaissance quadrilateral crowned with Baroque towers — dates from the 18th century under Maria Theresa of Austria. Rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1811, it now houses a section of the Slovak National Museum and offers a spectacular panorama over the Danube, the Old Town, and, on clear days, neighbouring Austria and Hungary.

St. Martin's Cathedral is a 15th-century Gothic church that served as the coronation site for Hungarian kings for nearly 300 years, from 1563 to 1830. Its 85-metre spire, topped with a gilded replica of St. Stephen's Crown weighing 300 kg, is one of Bratislava's symbols. The underground crypts contain the burials of historical figures and archaeological remains dating back to the city's foundations.

Bratislava's Old Town is a maze of cobblestone lanes, Baroque palaces, and picturesque squares nestled at the foot of the castle. Michael's Gate, the only preserved medieval gate, marks the entrance to a district punctuated by playful bronze statues — including the famous Čumil, a worker emerging from a manhole. The 14th-century Old Town Hall with its leaning tower and city museum dominates the Main Square where markets and coronations once took place.
