What does this tool do?

This free birthday constellation finder matches your month and day to the traditional twelve-sign zodiac calendar. It also shows a named star in the constellation associated with that sign. This is a birthday association, not a calculation of where the Sun was or which stars were overhead. For a commemorative map of a particular sky, the configurator needs a date, time and location. You can preview a design before choosing a paid PDF or poster.

How this birthday association works

The tool uses the conventional month-and-day ranges of the tropical zodiac. These twelve signs are calendar divisions, not the unequal constellation regions defined by the International Astronomical Union. The selected year does not change this calendar association.

Each sign is paired with an example of a named star in its namesake constellation. The magnitudes and approximate distances shown are catalogue reference values. This lookup does not calculate the Sun’s position, the horizon or the zenith.

A lower apparent magnitude means a brighter star. Visibility depends on the observing date, time, location, horizon and conditions. To create a commemorative sky illustration, enter those details in the configurator and consult the method and its limits.

Frequently asked questions

What is my birthday constellation?+

Here, “birthday constellation” means the constellation associated with your traditional calendar zodiac sign. The tool looks up your month and day; it does not calculate the actual constellation containing the Sun on your birth date. Calendar signs and astronomical constellations are different.

Why is there a 13th constellation (Ophiuchus) and is it included?+

Ophiuchus is a recognized astronomical constellation crossed by the Sun’s apparent path. It is not one of the twelve traditional tropical zodiac signs used by this calendar lookup. A real sky calculation and a twelve-sign birthday association serve different purposes.

What catalog and algorithm does the tool use?+

This tool uses a calendar lookup and a reference table of named stars with catalogue magnitudes and approximate distances. It does not run a sidereal-time or solar-position calculation. The separate star map configurator uses the chosen date, time and location; its public accuracy page explains the rendering method and limits.

Is the tool free and does it require an account?+

Yes. This birthday lookup is free and requires no account or email. Personalizing a sky illustration and ordering a digital file or poster is a separate paid product, with a free preview before ordering.

Can I see my zodiac constellation tonight?+

This result alone cannot tell you. Observability depends on your location, the date and time, the horizon and sky conditions. A traditional calendar sign does not establish whether its namesake constellation is above your horizon tonight.
