What the star map represents
The renderer loads an 8,921-record HYG-derived catalogue, including Sol, skips Sol, rotates the remaining fixed catalogue coordinates using sidereal time, and displays the subset that passes the geometric horizon and selected poster shape. It does not plot the Moon or planets and does not model weather, terrain, atmospheric refraction, precession or proper motion.
